Recruiting and hiring technology company Modern Hire appointed Karin Borchert as chief executive officer, the Delafield and Cleveland-based company announced today. Bochert, a former CEO of 1WorldSync, has more than 25 years of experience growing and leading data-driven businesses in the software-as-a-service and information services industries. Bochert will succeed former Modern Hire CEO Kurt Heikkinen. "I'm excited and honored to join Modern Hire at such a critical time in its company journey," Borchert said in a statement. "Modern Hire is growing exponentially and transforming the hiring process with proven science and trusted technology.” As CEO of 1WorldSync, Borchert led the company’s sale to Battery Ventures in 2019. She previously served as executive vice president of client services for Sterling Talent Solutions, where she led global account management, professionals services and customer service operations. Borchert has also held global executive roles overseeing different organizations within Dow Jones. "Karin's extensive data strategy background and experience in growing international SaaS technology organizations make her the perfect fit to lead Modern Hire as it focuses relentlessly on merging trusted science and proven technology to improve hiring outcomes," Modern Hire board chairman John Kish said in a statement. "We're thrilled to have Karin join the Modern Hire team, and know she will be influential in overseeing the continued growth and success of the company." Modern Hire’s selection of a new CEO comes less than a month after the company acquired Ireland-based Sonru, a provider of automated video interview technology. The acquisition extended Modern Hire’s reach into Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as the Asia Pacific region. Last year Delafield-based Montage Talent Inc. merged with Cleveland, Ohio-based Shaker International. The companies later rebranded as Modern Hire, keeping dual headquarters in Delafield and Cleveland.
