The event, which will be held Jan. 17 at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, will feature three-round bouts by amateur boxers, arranged by the Future Olympian Boxing Association. It will be the organization’s 24th annual Puttin’ on the Ritz event.

Last year’s event pulled in more than $161,000.

The Zoological Society is in the middle of a $25 million capital campaign to fund the first phase of planned improvements to the zoo over the next 25 years. The project is expected to transform 25 percent of the developed footprint of the zoo and will create new homes for the elephants, African hoofstock, hippos and rhinos. The elephant exhibit is expected to open to the public in spring 2019.

The Zoo Society has raised more than $17.8 million for the campaign to date.

Individual tickets for Puttin’ on the Ritz are $200. Table sponsorship costs $2,000 or $3,000 for a ringside table sponsorship.
