More than 100 events targeting young professionals will be held throughout 24 communities during this year’s YP Week, taking place Friday, April 19 to Saturday, April 27.
Since its launch in 2012, the annual week-long event series has grown from its Milwaukee origins to include other areas of the state, and now the country. This year, a total of 20 Wisconsin communities along with Chicago, Atlanta, Louisville and Salt Lake City will participate.
Young professionals in Milwaukee will have 20 events to choose from throughout the week, many of which are to be hosted by YP Week founder and Milwaukee social architecture firm NEWaukee.
The nine-day series kicks off with a Boss Lady Breakfast at 88Nine Radio Milwaukee in Walker’s Point. It will feature PechaKucha-style presentations (20 slides shown for 20 seconds each) from several female leaders in Milwaukee.
New events to this year’s lineup include The Exchange, a take on typical networking events that includes dinner and unique conversation topics; Crisis of Connection with Advocate Aurora Health, a seminar on social isolation; The Big Impact, a “micro-granting” event in which all ticket sale proceeds would benefit a local Co:Lab project voted on by attendees; and The Collage, a live art contest for students and graduates of local art programs to compete for a cash prize.
YP Week will also bring back crowd favorites including Laughing Lunch, featuring live comedy and free lunch, and All Boats Rise: Milwaukee’s Largest Happy Hour as well as popular Newaukee events The Speaker Crawl and Gallery Night Art Bus.
Northwestern Mutual is the long-standing presenting sponsor of Milwaukee’s YP Week.
