Yama Yoga in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward plans to open a second location at the Spur 16 project, which slated to open early next year in Mequon, project developer Shaffer Development LLC announced Tuesday.
The new studio will be part of a 5,000-square-foot public wellness center at the mixed-use development, located at 6300 W. Mequon Road. The wellness center will be located adjacent to St. Paul Fish Company restaurant and the Mequon Public Market.
Yama yoga, which opened its studio at 231 E. Buffalo St. in 2005, is owned by Marietta Pucillo and Jay Gruber, but its new Mequon studio will be led by Ryan Hader. Spur 16’s location “alongside numerous local artisan restaurants and services” was a main draw to the site, he said.
Yama Yoga True North will offer yoga classes and workshops, yoga teacher trainings, bodywork, reiki, Thai massage and concerts, according to the announcement.
The yoga studio is one of two tenants that will occupy the wellness center. The other is San Diego-based Club Pilates LLC, which plans to move its Mequon studio there from the nearby Mequon Town Center.
Spur 16’s 10,000-square-foot Mequon Public Market, opening early next year, will include Anodyne Coffee, Purple Door Ice Cream, Screaming Tuna and Bavette La Boucherie, Beans and Barley, Café Corazon, Happy Dough Lucky and Screaming Tuna.
The project’s ten townhomes will be completed in January, with occupancy available by February. Three buildings with a total of 146 apartment units will be available for occupancy in June.
The development also includes a clubhouse space that will be available exclusively for those who reside at Spur 16. It will include a pool, gathering area with a community kitchen and event space, and a workout facility with Peloton bikes.
