Judy Faulkner, founder of Epic Systems Corp. in Verona, is among 20 newcomers to the 2012 Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans.
Faulkner ranks No. 285 with a net worth of $1.7 billion.
Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates remains the nation’s richest person by far, as the tech and philanthropy giant took the top spot on the list for the 19th consecutive year with a net worth of $66 billion.
Investor Warren Buffett, the head of Berkshire Hathaway, again took second with $46 billion, while Oracle Corp. co-founder Larry Ellison remains third with $41 billion and brothers Charles and David Koch, co-owners of Koch Industries, tied for fourth with $31 billion.
Forbes said most of the rich became richer in 2012, with net worth rising for 241 members of its list and shrinking for only 66.

In addition to Faulkner, other Wisconsinites on the Forbes 400 list include: John Menard Jr. of Eau Claire, #56, with $6 billion; Diane Hendricks of Afton, #142, with $2.9 billion; H. Fisk Johnson, Imogene Powers Johnson, S. Curtis Johnson and Helen Johnson-Leipold of Racine, tied for #151 with $2.7 billion each; Herbert Kohler Jr. and family of Kohler, #170 with $2.6 billion; and James Cargill II of Birchwood, #190 with $2.4 billion.
