WisconsinBiz wins international award

The 2013 edition of WisconsinBiz, a magazine jointly produced by BizTimes Media and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., won a Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award for its project in the category of Magazines for communities with populations greater than 500,000 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

The honor was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held in Philadelphia, Pa.

“The Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. as being one of the leading organizations in the industry for innovation, creativity and successful strategies,” said IEDC chair Paul Krutko. “These awards are meant to honor the organizations and individuals who are dedicated to making a positive change in their communities. This organization uses creative solutions and inventive ideas, and offers other regions a wonderful example to learn and benefit from. The award represents an acknowledgment and appreciation for Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. dedication to continuous growth within itself, as well as improving the industry overall.”

The WEDC worked with BizTimes Media to create the flagship magazine to promote business development in the state. Building upon positive changes in Wisconsin’s business climate and the creation of WEDC to lead economic development efforts in the state, the publication and its corresponding online website (www.wisconsinbiz.com) were seen as an opportunity to celebrate the state’s economic assets.

The goal of WisconsinBiz was threefold:

1.    To help businesses in Wisconsin grow.
2.    To provide solid reasons for businesses to move to and expand in Wisconsin.
3.    To help businesses in Wisconsin attract and keep the brightest talent.

“The mission of the WisconsinBiz aligned directly with the mission of BizTimes Media, and that is to facilitate commerce in Wisconsin,” said BizTimes publisher Dan Meyer.

Associated Bank was the Business Growth sponsor for the publication, while the University of Wisconsin System was the Education sponsor.
