Metro Milwaukee home prices up 4.8 percent

Prices up 5.6 percent statewide

Record year on track for Wisconsin housing market

Home sale prices in the metro Milwaukee area increased by 4.8 percent in January 2016, compared to January 2015, according to Irvine-Calif.-based CoreLogic.

Nationwide, home sale prices increased year-over-year by 6.9 percent in January 2016 compared to January 2015 and increased month-over-month by 1.3 percent in January 2016 compared with December 2015.

“Heading into the spring buying season, home prices continue to rise across much of the country,” Anand Nallathambi, president and CEO of CoreLogic, said in a statement. “With rates staying low for now and continued solid job and income growth, the spring buying season is shaping up to be a good one.”

Nationally, home prices are projected to rise 5.5 percent in 2016, according to CoreLogic.
