Wisconsin Central School Bus to lay off 54

Wisconsin Central School Bus has announced it will close its Mequon facility and lay off 54 employees.

The company said the move is a result of its client, the Mequon-Thiensville School District, canceling the contract for services out of its Mequon site, located at 11127 Industrial Road. The bus operator serves about 10 schools in the district.

The employees include 50 bus drivers, one manager, two technicians and one dispatcher. The layoffs are expected to begin following the end of the school year, about June 12.

Wisconsin Central School Bus is a division of Montgomery, Ill.-based Illinois Central School Bus LLC. It was founded in 2004 and has operations in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Massachusetts.
