West Allis senior transport company sold

Senior Express Transportation purchased by Kehlnhofers

West Allis-based Senior Express Transportation has been sold to Brian and Veronica Kehlnhofer for an undisclosed price.

The business, which offers door-to-door travel services for seniors and the disabled, was sold on Oct. 11 by Greg Cerfus, with the assistance of Sunbelt Business Brokers-Milwaukee in Brookfield.

The Kehlnhofers were seeking to buy a business that catered to the aging baby boomer generation.

“We wanted to get into the service industry, servicing the disabled and our elders,” Brian Kehlnhofer said.

Brian also owns Brookfield-based Kehlnhofer Custom Cabinets.

Senior Express has 12 vehicles and 10 employees. It caters to the southern end of the metropolitan Milwaukee area because it’s easier to keep the mileage under control in that direction, Brian said.

The Kehlnhofers haven’t made any immediate changes to Senior Express, but are planning to evaluate potential adjustments in the future.

“We’ve got to get our hands around what we have and things like that, but any changes that we would make would be to expand territory, upgrade vehicles,” Brian said.

Senior Express transports people to routine destinations, such as the grocery store; to medical appointments, such as doctor visits; to special events, such as weddings; and to cultural events, such as concerts. Its service area includes Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, New Berlin, West Allis, St. Francis, Oak Creek, Franklin, Hales Corners, Greenfield, Bay View and Cudahy.
