Home Industries Weekly Profile: Michael A. Seramur

Weekly Profile: Michael A. Seramur

commercial broker associate, Ogden & Company Inc.

Company: Ogden & Company, Inc.
Title: Commercial broker associate
Education: Bachelor of arts, Marquette University
Family: Wife, Susan; son, Zack, a freshman at UW-LaCrosse; and son, Sam, a sophomore at Marquette University High School
City of residence: Wauwatosa
Hobbies: "Spending time with my family. Enjoy fishing, hunting with lab ‘Tator,’ golf and most other sports, as well as home renovation projects."
What are you working on? "A number of different projects, ranging from Third Ward sales and leasing of commercial condominiums at the P.H. Dye House, retail leasing at the River Renaissance development, and sales and leasing of listings throughout greater Milwaukee."
How does the market look to you?  "I remain cautiously optimistic of the Milwaukee commercial market. With the interest rates remaining relatively low and downtown development steadily increasing, 2007 should be a good year."
What was the best deal you’ve ever been involved in?  "A major corporation was a client who we arranged to donate a surplus parcel of land to a nonprofit community church. It was quite a difficult piece of property. However, I was able to work out the details and closed the transaction. The commission was not a financial windfall, but being part of the deal was rewarding, nonetheless. Getting paid to give something away … what a great country!"
What was the funniest moment of your career?  "Many years ago, a gentleman interviewed for a position as a commercial broker at Ogden and showed up the very next day to work, even though he had not been hired! He stayed on, despite not being hired, and we reminded him about this for years to come."
