Weekly Profile: Kris O’Meara

principal, Irgens Development Partners

Company: Irgens Development Partners, LLC
Title: Principal
Education: BBA in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, University of Wisconsin
Family: Husband Mark, daughters Carly (18), Grace (16), Gen (13), son Tim (9)
City of Residence: West Bend
Hobbies: Tennis, skiing and running
What are you working on? "A medical office building in suburban Chicago, a biotech/medical office building in suburban Phoenix, and general business development activities in Milwaukee, Chicago and Phoenix, where Irgens has offices."
How does the market look to you? "Steady in Milwaukee, stronger in Chicago and wild in Phoenix."
What was the best deal you’ve ever been involved in? "Whew, hard to say, but I think the best ones are those that are most challenging. Jackie Walsh and I worked on one project together that had an inordinate number of hurdles from an approvals standpoint.  After the fact, our client said that he just could not believe that we were able to pull it off.  My favorite deals are the ones where all of the various stakeholders are happy with the end result … I like making new friends."
What was the funniest moment of your career? "It involved a wheelchair, a lot of surgical tape and gauze and a lease proposal for a tenant we really wanted to pull into our building. That’s all I am going to say. But there are people out there who know what I am talking about!"
