Weekly Donation Roundup

  • The Milwaukee Repertory Theater received $1 million from the family of former board member John D. Lewis to support its New Play Development Program. The program will help The Rep commission new works and build relationships with both locally- and internationally-known playwrights, the organization said.
  • West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, along with its business partners, have raised $644,398 for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund.
  • Dairy Queen donated $270,000 to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, to support a therapeutic technology project for cancer and blood patients. The fast food chain raised money for the donation by setting aside $1 for each Blizzard Treat sold at 66 Wisconsin DQ restaurants, and also through an auction event held in Puerto Rico earlier this year.
  • Sendik’s Food Markets raised $222,000 to pay for two Stars & Stripes Honor Flights for local veterans. The trips will take a total of 160 veterans to Washington D.C. in a one-day, all-expenses-paid trip to see national memorials and participate in other events honoring them for their service. The flights will take place Oct. 15 and Nov. 5.
