Von Maur, Inc. has purchased 1.6 acres in The Corners development in Brookfield for $3 million, according to state records.
The Davenport, Iowa-based department store will occupy 140,000-square feet in the development, currently under construction. Other tenants will include a Sendick’s grocery store and an Anthropologie store.
Despite a rocky start, the sale of the site is further proof that the landmark project is advancing.
Von Maur purchased a parcel at the southeast corner of Barker Road and Bluemound Road from Chicago-based Brookfield Corners LLC, the joint venture formed to build The Corners development.
Brookfield Corners includes Coleshill, U.K.-based IM Properties, Chicago-based Bradford Real Estate and Milwaukee-based Marcus Corp.
Brookfield Corners purchased the 11-acre former Menards store site at 20005 W. Bluemound Road for $11 million and the adjacent 8-acre former West Point Cinema site from an affiliate of the Marcus Corp. for $8.4 million in March.
In 2011, the Marcus Corp. unveiled plans for The Corners, a $200 million development, that will be a 750,000-square-foot retail, restaurant and apartment development on a 19-acre site bounded by West Bluemound Road, North Barker Road and I-94.
