Vita Fitness & Physical Therapy is opening its second location in Wauwatosa, in the redeveloped power house building of Mandel Group Inc.'s Crescent Apartments project. Vita is a boutique gym in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward that integrates physical therapy with physical fitness. It is located in Mandel's DoMUS apartments at 451 E. Erie St. It plans to open its next location in early May, in the historic power house at 10460 Innovation Drive in Wauwatosa. It will serve residents of the neighboring Crescent Apartments building and offer memberships to the public. "This is an ideal location, close to our referring doctors and easily accessible to the western metro area via Interstate 94 and U.S. Highway 45," Tommy Grabowski, owner of Vita, said in a statement. Milwaukee-based Mandel is restoring the 106-year-old power house building as part of a mixed-use project that also includes a 102-unit apartment building and 119-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel. The project is located in the Milwaukee County Research Park. Restoration and reconstruction work is well underway to retrofit the building, according to a news release. Also known as the "M10 building," it originally provided steam and hot water to the historic Muirdale TB Sanitorium that once stood on the site. Only a few of the original buildings from the old hospital campus. Ally's Bistro, a restaurant in Menomonee Falls, is also opening its second location at the power house building this spring. Mandel will also house its property-management staff in the building's office and reception area. Preleasing of the apartments is underway for May 1 occupancy.
