VetCon to offer opportunities for veterans, employers

The Wisconsin Departments of Veterans Affairs, Military Affairs and Workforce Development, along with Hiring our Heroes, will host VetCon: A Veteran Employment and Services Conference on Saturday, May 10, at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.

The conference will offer veterans access to about 150 employers who seek to hire veterans. It will include a career fair, benefits expo, workshops and access to educational and other resources.

A complimentary breakfast for veterans and employers will be held at 8 a.m. Gov. Scott Walker is the invited keynote speaker. The career and benefits fairs begin at 10 a.m.

“Our service members have dedicated their time and talents to serve our country, and it is our duty to assist them with a smooth transition back into their communities and families,” Walker said. “As a state and as a country we must do all we can to provide veterans with access to the resources they need to be successful, and VetCon is one way we can do that while also saying thank you to the men and women who have served our country.”
