UWM Talent Conference will feature author

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will present a Talent Conference to explore how top companies are recruiting and retaining talented professionals.

 

The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon at the UWM School of Continuing Education, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee.

Rebecca Ryan of Next Generation Consulting will provide the keynote presentation, “They Love Me, or Will They Leave Me? Six Factors That Turn On Top Talent.” Ryan will discuss why talented employees stay or leave an organization and the impact that talented employees can have on a company. She is the author of “Life First, Work Second,” and “ReGENERATION.” She has been critically acclaimed as “a voice for the next generation.” 

An additional keynote presentation will be provided by Sharla Avila of Southwest Airlines about the company’s on-boarding program and other secrets to retention success.

The breakout sessions that follow will include:
* “Benefits… It’s More Than Healthcare and Vacations” – A panel discussion with Rocket Clicks, Miller Coors, Sargento, and Direct Supply about those “other” benefits, moderated by Rose Spano Iannelli of Spano Pratt Executive Search.
* “Get More Bang for the Buck From Your Talent” – A case study in eliminating entitlement mentality by reinstating pay for performance, with Rena Somersan of Verisight.
* “Recruitment Benchmark Survey” – Finding exceptional employees takes diligence, resources and time, a presentation by Cindy Lu of the Novo Group.
* “Top Ten Things You Need to Know as an HR Strategist In Order To Be at the Table” – A panel discussion.
