UW Credit Union announced it will open a new branch at 2525 S. 108th St. in West Allis. The location will be UWCU’s fifth Milwaukee branch and its 21st Wisconsin branch.
The credit union has entered a capital land lease agreement. UWCU plans to raze a building on the site that was formerly a Blockbuster and build a new facility for the bank.
UWCU added 23,000 new members in 2011, the company said.
"The vast majority of our membership looks to us as their primary financial institution, and the new West Allis location will provide our more than 19,000 members and University of Wisconsin alumni living in the area with added convenience," said Paul Kundert, president and CEO. "It will also allow residents of the community and those who work in the area the opportunity to take advantage of the financial services we offer."
The new full-service branch, which will include a drive-thru window and no-fee ATMs, is expected to open in October.
UWCU’s fourth Milwaukee branch is opening on April 16 at 21215 E. Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha. The existing Milwaukee branches are in Glendale, Wauwatosa and on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus.
