United Way in Waukesha County launches volunteer app

United Way in Waukesha County will work to drive volunteer engagement through a new smartphone app that connects users to hundreds of volunteer opportunities in Waukesha County.

The free app, now available on both Android and Apple devices, allows users to search the nonprofit’s database with key words or qualifiers to find a volunteer experience that suits their skills and abilities. Users can also contact the volunteer coordinators of specific volunteer opportunities directly through the app.

The app was designed by Nick Sammataro, a student at Carroll University. Sammataro, who contributed his own volunteer hours developing the app for United Way, has also designed apps for other area nonprofits.

“We are so excited about the development and release of the volunteer app,” said Lori Hayes, director of volunteer engagement at United Way. “We’ve added another way for the community to get connected to rewarding volunteer experiences. Our designer, Nick, did a fantastic job. The app is a fast and easy way to get connected to volunteer opportunities no matter where you are.”

To download the app, search “United Way in Waukesha County Volunteer Engagement” in the Apple Store or the Android Marketplace.
