Uber may expand taxi app service to Milwaukee

The Uber taxi app, which has grown to become an immensely popular service in Chicago, may be coming to Milwaukee.

Uber is a quick and easy way to order a cab, a black car or a private sports utility vehicle ride. Users can open the app on their smartphones, and it immediately informs them about the available cars for service in the neighborhood. A text tells users how long they will wait and another alerts them when the car is arriving.

Uber operates in more than 30 cities in North America and in others in Europe, Asia Pacific, and South and Central America.

OnMilwaukee.com, a media partner of BizTimes, reported today that Uber is looking to hire a “community manager” in Milwaukee, though the job will be based in Chicago. “You’ll be tasked with scaling support in an innovative way at a company that’s growing like crazy and changing constantly,” the job posting stated.

Another page on the Uber website says the company is looking to run Uber in three Midwestern cities remotely, presumably from Chicago.

“We’re looking for a fearless, brilliant managers to run the Detroit, Milwaukee and Indianapolis Markets as we experiment running a city remotely,” the page stated.
