The U.S. economy added 211,000 jobs in November and the U.S. unemployment rate remained at 5.0 percent, according to the latest report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In addition, job gain numbers for September and October were revised upward. The U.S. economy added 145,000 jobs in September (revised up from 137,000) and 298,000 in October (revised up from 271,000).
In November, jobs gains occurred in construction (up 46,000 jobs), professional and technical services (up 28,000 jobs), and health care (up 24,000 jobs), the report said.
Mining lost 11,000 jobs in November and the information sector lost 12,000 jobs during the month.
Employment in other major industries including manufacturing, wholesale trade, transportation and warehousing, financial services and government, changed little during the month.
Average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 4 cents in November to $25.25, according to the report.
