Milwaukee-based Trombetta Inc., a manufacturer of DC power products, has acquired Sheboygan Falls-based Electronic Design Inc., a manufacturer of customized electronic control products for an undisclosed price.
Trombetta’s products include DC contactors, voltage regulators, industrial solenoids and electronic controls used in the power sport, electric vehicle, agriculture and construction, heavy truck, marine and hydraulic power pack sectors. The addition of EDI’s resources and expertise will allow the company to further expand its electronic product offerings, particularly in the area of Controller Area Network (CAN)-based communication.
Trombetta, which has about 75 employees at its Milwaukee facility at 8111 N. 87th St., has five manufacturing facilities worldwide, one other of which in the U.S.
“This is a great day for Trombetta and for Wisconsin,” said Paul Lindsay, president of Trombetta. “We are able to expand our offerings with the acquisition of a great Wisconsin company that is just a few miles away. This is a great fit.”
Electronic Design, which has about 20 employees, makes customized electronic controls including digital switching systems, industrial electronic modules and CANopen devices used for industrial trucks, marine, cranes and other applications. Its facility will remain open in Sheboygan Falls, and its name will be changed to Trombetta.
“Trombetta’s reputation for high-quality innovative products and strong market presences offers EDI the opportunity for growth that would be difficult to achieve on our own,” said Mike Hassinger, sales manager at EDI. “We’re proud to join the Trombetta family of customer solutions.”
