A band of businesses, nonprofits and governments entities will put a new spin on the dialogue behind the future of transportation in Milwaukee with a “Transportation Circus” to be held Tuesday, March 31.
The event, free and open to the public, is being presented by 88Nine Radio Milwaukee at its Walker’s Point location, 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave. During the event, attendees will be able to explore alternative transportation outlets that have potential in Milwaukee.
Grounding the event will be a “Transportation Fair” with tours of a new Milwaukee County Transit System, bike maintenance demonstrations performed by Wheel & Sprocket, test rides of Coast In Bike’s family-friendly cargo bikes, and more.
The event will also feature transportation pitches from Bublr Bikes, Milwaukee County Parks, The Milwaukee Streetcar, Uber and Wisconsin Bike Fed.
Attendees will also be able to get insight from a Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver as well as hear from individuals who have experimented with bikes, buses and walking routes for their commutes.
Additionally, the circus will offer an exclusive screening of a bike-to-work video created by Radio Milwaukee DJ Marcus Doucette.
While 88Nine Radio Milwaukee is the lead presenter of the circus, event partners include Black Girls Do Bike, Bublr Bikes, Fyxation, Milwaukee Brewing Co., Milwaukee County Parks, Milwaukee County Transit System, Sixteenth Street Community Health Center, The Bella Donnas, The Milwaukee Streetcar, Uber, Urban Ecology Center, Wheel & Sprocket, and Wisconsin Bike Fed.
The Transportation Circus, which will also offer attendees free beer from Milwaukee Brewing Co. and a chance to take home a new bike from Wheel & Sprocket, will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees do not need to register. More information can be found at www.radiomilwaukee.org/circus.
