The Dohmen Company Foundation is currently seeking technology ideas to improve public health, and the top 10 finalists were announced today.
A live presentation for the ideas is scheduled to take place at the “Tournavation” event on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Milwaukee City Hall Rotunda, 200 E. Wells Street.
The top 10 finalists for the Tournavation are:

• Medical Legal Needs Assessment Application by Eduardo Castro
• Gamification of Adolescent Health Indicator Application by Nate Conroy
• Adolescent Sexual Decision-making Application by Christie Guertin
• Cloud-based Food Surplus Locator Application by Amy Majewski
• Text2Heal Grief Counseling Application Dr. Emmanuel Ngui
• 24-hour Safety Zone Mobile Application by Bob Waite
• Electronic Immunization Records by Richard Weidensee
• Basic Health Information Application by Chris Welker
During the Tournavation, which is free and open to the public, each participant will take the stage for four minutes to pitch his or her idea to the crowd and a selection juror. Both the jurors and the audience vote will determine the winning idea.
Following the selection of the most viable, scalable and concrete idea, a team of volunteer IT development professionals led by Milwaukee-based Red Arrow Labs will enter a design and development period to produce a software solution for the community.
The volunteer IT development team will meet every Wednesday from Oct. 21 to Dec. 1. Participation in the volunteer IT development team is also open to the public.
Tournavation is a crowd-sourced idea generation platform that addresses important issues that face urban communities like Milwaukee. This is the third Tournavation NEWaukee has hosted with the city of Milwaukee.
The Tournavation is an initiative by The Dohmen Company Foundation, the charitable arm of the Milwaukee-based Dohmen Company, in partnership with NEWaukee, Red Arrow Labs, the city of Milwaukee, and the Milwaukee Lifecourse Initiative for Healthy Families at United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.
