After an eight year residential building hiatus, the Sussex Plan Commission will review plans Thursday for the community’s third subdivision this year.
Halquist Stone Co. is proposing a 73 single family subdivision, Johanssen Farms, located on the east side of Maple Avenue, south of Clover Drive, on the southern edge of the village.
If approved, this would be the third subdivision under construction in Sussex.
Across the street, on Maple Avenue, Brookfield developer Art Sawall and William Ryan Homes, of Stromberg, Ill., are building Sussex Preserve, a 146 lot subdivision.
Korndoerfer Homes Inc., of Sturtevant, is also building a 57- lot subdivision called Woodside Ridge on the corner of Good Hope and Woodside Road.
These three developments mark the first time Sussex has had residential building since 2007, said Jeremy Smith, village administrator.
“We’ve had lots of industrial, commercial and new homes recently,” Smith said. “There is a huge demand to get into our community and our school district.”
