Summit Credit Union plans to build a branch in the Meadow Ridge Shops development in the Village of Pewaukee at 1468 Capitol Drive.
The proposed branch would be approximately 3,700 square feet and would include two drive-through teller aisles and a single ATM aisle, according to Pewaukee Plan Commission documents.
Summit Credit Union would be the fifth and final tenant of the Meadow Ridge Shops development, which includes Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s USA and MOD Pizza.
“In terms of why Pewaukee was selected, we look for communities that are vibrant and growing, and where we will be able to help both existing and new members with their financial needs,” said Becky Gerothanas, Summit Credit Union chief operating officer.
Plan Commission documents indicate the building was designed to be “highly visible” so that it “reaches out” to the community.
Gerothanas also said potential customers tend to research which banks are close to their location before deciding on a financial institution, which is another reason Summit Credit Union choose Pewaukee, she added.
Summit Credit Union has grown rapidly, opening seven new branches across southeastern Wisconsin over the last two years. Another will be added to the list when the credit union’s new Waukesha branch, at 2208 E. Moreland Blvd., opens this month.
The credit union will open three more locations in the first half of 2020 in the Racine area, Middleton and Mount Horeb.
Plans for the Pewaukee location had already been approved in 2018, but Summit Credit Union is going through the approval process again because the project time fame lapsed, according to Plan Commission documents.
