Oak Creek-based pet food maker
Stella & Chewy's has purchased its headquarters and manufacturing facility on Oakview Parkway from an affiliate of New York-based
Lexington Realty Trust, according to state records.
Stella & Chewy's bought the building, located at 111 W. Oakview Parkway, for $24.5 million, according to state records.
The property is assessed at nearly $14 million, according to city records.
Neither Stella & Chewy's nor Lexington immediately responded to a request for comment on the deal.
Lexington first
acquired the property in 2015 for approximately $22.56 million, city records indicate.
Stella & Chewy's was started in a Manhattan apartment in 2003 by Marie Moody after she rescued a sick dog. It eventually relocated to the Milwaukee area.
The company was the first tenant in the OakView Business Park, located southwest of West Oakwood Road and South Howell Avenue in Oak Creek. Construction of its building was completed 2015, and at the time it was 164,000 square feet.
Stella & Chewy's has grown in recent years. State officials
announced in October 2018 the company would invest $30 million in the expansion of its headquarters and potentially add 82 employees. That expansion was supported with $500,000 in tax credits from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
