Stein will take over Hawks site in Tosa

Stein Gardens & Gifts has reached an agreement to open a new location at Hawks Nursery Co. Inc. on Watertown Plank Road in the City of Wauwatosa

Hawks will continue to independently own and operate its landscape design, construction and maintenance services firm, but will exit the retail garden center business. Stein Gardens & Gifts will open its store at the former Hawks location by early April.

Stein’s newest location will feature an expansive outdoor garden center along with other offerings such as lawn and garden care items, seasonal and home décor, indoor plants, gifts and Weber grills. As part of a broader agreement, Hawks and Stein Gardens & Gifts will co-market Hawks’ Landscape Design and Construction services.

“Hawks Landscape Design is second to none in the industry and we are excited to now offer customers access to its landscape design, construction and maintenance services at each of our southeastern Wisconsin locations,” said Stein Gardens & Gifts president Mark Birmingham.  “We will continue our tradition of award-winning landscape design and community involvement for which our company is known,” said Hawks president Joe Kresl. “I chose to work with Stein because not only is it the best garden center in the area, it is one of the best in the nation.”

As part of the agreement Hawks will source its annuals, perennials and the majority of its nursery stock from Stein Gardens & Gifts.
