Despite failing to set a new attendance record in 2015, the Wisconsin State Fair drew more than 1 million visitors for the third year in a row, Wisconsin State Fair Park officials announced on Monday morning.
The 2015 fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, ran from Thursday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 16, and in total welcomed 1,033,053 people.
Last year’s fair was attended by 1,030,881. That figure ballooned from the 2012 event, when 1,012,552 people stopped by fairgrounds.
Among the 2015 fair’s most significant successes was the consumption of about 400,000 cream puffs and the popularity of the fair’s amusement park, SpinCity, which witnessed about one million rides and 250,000 rounds of games.
Additionally, $420,000 was raised at the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Lifestock Auction, and 127,000 pounds of food were collected during Wells Fargo $2 Day to benefit Hunger Task Force.
The 2016 state fair is scheduled to run Aug. 4-14. To ramp up excitement for next year’s fair and thank this year’s fairgoers, the Wisconsin State Fair and U.S. Cellular will sell $5 fair admission tickets valid next year. The deal will save fairgoers $7 per ticket. The admission deal will be available today from 5 to 10 p.m. at www.wistatefair.com.
