Startups to receive up to $700K following Fall Experiment 2019

Three startups could receive up to $700,000 in investments following two pitch competitions at Fall Experiment 2019, a two-day festival that highlights tech, art, music and gaming in Milwaukee.

Tixora and Fiveable, co-winners of the Fall X Pitch competition will each receive up to $250,000. The investment will come from Rock River Capital Partners and Cream City Venture Capital

The 83 Tech Harbor Reverse Pitch, which focused on health and wellness tech startups, will award Ready, Set, Food! with an investment of up to $200,000 from Advocate Aurora Health

Between both pitch competitions, a total of 10 startups presented out of an applicant pool of more than 100, which also included international startups.

Gener8tor and Wisconn Valley Fund helped with recruitment and facilitation of Fall Experiment and the two pitch competitions, said Abby Taubner, partner at Gener8tor.

“From a health technology perspective, we had really innovative, quality applicants that were committed to having a presence in Milwaukee, even if they weren’t from the area,” Taubner said. “That’s a testament to our pool of startups seeing value in what we’re working to accomplish here in Milwaukee and wanting to be a part of it and contribute to it.”

  • Milwaukee-based Tixora is known for “OneTap,” an all-in-one mobile ticketing and transit app.
  • Milwaukee-based Fiveable combines education and technology to create content for students and teachers through interactive live steams, fun review games and study guides.
  • Los Angeles-based Ready, Set, Food! produces a supplement to reduce the risk of developing allergies by gently introducing babies to peanut, egg, and milk, the three most common childhood food allergens.

“With the Fall X pitch competition, those two companies are also eligible for space in Cream City Labs, the co-working space,” Taubner said. “For 83 Tech Harbor, Advocate Aurora Health made it clear they were hoping to partner with the winner of the pitch competition more meaningfully.”

Fall Experiment had over 2,500 attendees, more than 100 activations and speakers and had a headline concert by DJ Steve Aoki. Dates for the 2020 festival will be announced soon, according to a press release.
