The 205-room Marriott hotel under construction in downtown Milwaukee will have an 800-square-foot Starbucks coffee shop along Wisconsin Avenue, the developer for the project announced today.
“We’re excited to have a full-service Starbucks as part of our hotel,” said Jeffrey Hess, the general manager for the hotel. “Starbucks is really a blue-chip brand and part of what makes this hotel a truly quality project. We think this new Starbucks will be a great spot not only for our hotel guests, but for everyone who lives and works in this part of downtown.”
The hotel, to be called Marriott Milwaukee Downtown, is being built around the Johnson Bank building, located southwest of Wisconsin Avenue and Milwaukee Street. The closest current Starbucks locations are about five blocks away at 326 N. Water St. in the Third Ward and in Red Arrow Park at 920 N. Water St. Starbucks also has a store in the Hilton Milwaukee City Center hotel at 509 W. Wisconsin Ave. on the west side of downtown.
The Marriott hotel will also have a Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers store and a restaurant called Milwaukee Café & Bar. Both were announced previously.
A topping off ceremony for the nine-story hotel project is being held this morning to celebrate the end of vertical construction for the $54 million project.
The hotel is expected to open in mid-2013.
Jackson Street Holdings LLC, the developer for the project, also announced that room reservations for the hotel have been opened today.
