The 150-room hotel at the corner of 4th and Wells streets, includes 2,000 square feet of meeting space and is connected to the Wisconsin Center.

“I believe the hotel’s location and historic location is unlike any other in the city,” General Manager Michael Aftanski said in a written statement. “We are ready to welcome visitors to Milwaukee as well as local residents who want to stay close to all of the action downtown.”

Paul Upchurch, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee, said he’s excited to have another hotel connected to the Wisconsin Center.

“SpringHill Suites is a high quality, all suites product that adds nicely to the mix of convention hotels,” Upchurch said. “We know that meeting planners prefer hotels at or connected to the Convention Center, and SpringHill Suites gives us another option to meet that need.”

SpringHill Suites is operated as a Marriott franchise and is owned by Milwaukee-based JSWD Commerce, LLC, an affiliate of Jackson Street Holdings and managed by White Lodging Services.

Jackson Street Holdings purchased the six-story, 92,255-square-foot Commerce Building and a two-story parking structure, both built in 1927, from Zilber Ltd. for $4.5 million to convert the property into the hotel.

Merrillville, Ind.-based White Lodging also manages the Milwaukee Marriott Downtown, 323 East Wisconsin Ave., and will manage The Westin Milwaukee Downtown, just south of the U.S. Bank Center,  which is currently under construction. Both are also owned by Jackson Street Holdings, LLC.
