Southwest adds nonstop service from Milwaukee to San Diego

Southwest Airlines announced today that it will add new nonstop service from General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee to San Diego in 2015.

“Southwest continues to invest in Milwaukee, and I am pleased that its MKE flight schedule to the west coast is becoming even more robust,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.

With the addition of service San Diego, Southwest will offer 23 nonstop destinations from Milwaukee.

Southwest’s new nonstop San Diego service will operate every Saturday beginning April 11, 2015.

In addition, Southwest Airlines said it is adding additional flight frequencies from Milwaukee to Denver and Orlando.

Today’s announcement continues a series of new routes for Mitchell International announced earlier this year. In September, Frontier Airlines announced new flights to Ft. Myers and Orlando, and this winter, Southwest, Delta, Frontier and AeroMexico will operate flights from Milwaukee to six destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean. Many of those flights are available through Funjet Vacations, a national travel firm headquartered in Milwaukee County.

Mitchell Airport offers nonstop flights to 37 destinations.
