Today, people use a variety of devices and systems to manage their health, and Milwaukee-based Sensia Wellness wanted to simplify that.

“We just felt there was a need in the market for employers to have one central system,” said Megan Zimmerman, director of marketing for the corporate wellness company.

Sensia’s solution is its Sensia Health Activity Tracker, a new software that helps companies manage their employee wellness programs.

After demonstrating it in April, Sensia’s clients will begin using HAT this month. So far, approximately 10 Milwaukee-area companies are using it, Zimmerman said.

Intended for a company’s wellness administrator and employees, HAT provides customizable incentive programs that help employees reach their wellness goals. The incentives are designated by the employer, but Zimmerman said they may include money, gift cards, time off or health savings account contributions.

Through HAT, which can be accessed 24/7 from an online portal or mobile app, employees can view their individual health risk assessments, wellness plans and incentive goals; record health and fitness activities; log participation in wellness programming and events; and receive company wellness updates and communication.

As for the wellness administrators, they can assign wellness points to each activity, customize the wellness tiers and incentives, and generate utilization and wellness incentive reports at any time. The reports calculate participation rates for each wellness activity; total the monthly points for each participant; and indicate which incentive tier the participant has met.

Zimmerman added that HIPAA confidentiality is maintained throughout the HAT program, and employers receive aggregate data.

HAT is designed to be integrated with Sensia’s services, including onsite medical clinics, onsite health coaching and smoking cessation programs, but Zimmerman said it also works as a standalone system.

Companies that choose to implement ongoing health coaching or establish an onsite medical clinic can utilize HAT to provide employees with updated health coaching notes, medical clinic visit notes and personal wellness plans.

“The ability to integrate all our services through one single platform is an industry game-changer for us and our clients,” Zimmerman said.

Even though a plethora of health apps and fitness trackers are available on the market, Zimmerman said HAT is different because it is more holistic. For instance, she said it integrates everything from blood pressure and cholesterol to fitness and nutrition.

Sensia, which partnered with Milwaukee-based Xorbix Technologies Inc. to develop the software, offers HAT on a monthly basis. The undisclosed cost varies depending on company size and level of customization.

The Sensia Health Activity Tracker provides customizable incentive programs to help employees reach their wellness goals.
