Rockwell Automation offering $10K prize in upcoming Hackathon

Rockwell Automation is tapping into a local programming and coding talent for a hackathon where leading teams could win up to $10,000.

The hackathon will take place Friday at the Ward4MKE co-working space from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Using real data from one of Rockwell’s smart manufacturing operations, developers will use their imagination and programming skills to solve an industrial software challenge.

The company says it is building its talent pipeline and leveraging the hackathon to bridge the Milwaukee-area skills gap in tech. So, in addition to the $10,000 prize, a participant could even land a job with Rockwell Automation, according to a press release.

“Rockwell Automation might not immediately come to mind when programmers think about software companies where they can work on creating next-generation technologies,” the press release states. “But the opportunities are endless in the industrial software space.”
