River Run Computers launches e-mail spam filter

Glendale-based River Run Computers (RRC) is launching its own hosted e-mail filtering service that protects users from inbound spam and viruses, while guarding them from  unintentionally spamming others.

RRC says its service will save time for users through a decrease in unwanted e-mail and also will speed up clients’ internet connections due to a decrease in traffic.

“This service helps secure our clients’ email against attacks, and is designed to prevent them from unintentionally being a spam sender,” states Joseph Skotarzak, president.  “The new service supports our overall goal of constantly keeping our clients networks’ up and running.”

RRC previously used an e-mail filtering service called Postini, but switched to hosting their own service.  The change was made due to the bundling of Google Apps and Postini, leading to an increase in price and the potential of reduction in service.

“Hosting our own e-mail service will ease communication and save time for our clients because they can go directly to us,” said Paul Riedl Jr., chief executive officer of RRC. “And, our service supports both inbound and outbound spamming, significantly decreasing the chance of being blacklisted.”
