Brown Deer-based manufacturer Rite-Hite Holding Corp. has acquired snow removal system manufacturer Scraper Systems, the company announced today.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Pennsylvania-based manufacturer’s automated snow removal system, FleetPlow, can clear rooftop ice and snow from fleets in all sectors of the transportation industry, including trucks, vans, buses and sea containers.
Scraper Systems says its products can reduce operator fines as well as the risk of property damage and personal injury to motorists from dislodged rooftop snow flying from vehicles. The system can also reduce fuel costs associated with extra snow weight, according to a press release.
“We believe Scraper Systems’ patented designs and commitment to quality will enhance Rite-Hite’s mission to improve industrial safety worldwide,” Rite-Hite chief operating officer Chuck Waugaman said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome the Scraper Systems team into the Rite-Hite organization.”
Rite-Hite had already been selling Scraper System products through its subsidiary Arbon Equipment Corp. prior to the acquisition, said Sara Everts, Rite-Hite director of marketing and communications.
"Rite-Hite is looking for opportunities to expand and grow our business and Scraper Systems was a natural fit based on their product and our past experience with them," Everts said. "Scraper Systems was also looking for a way to grow their business as well."
Howard Livingston and his son Fin Livingston acquired Scraper Systems in 2011. While Howard Livingston will be retiring, Fin will stay on as general manager of the company. Scraper Systems’ five employees will join the Rite-Hite team, but will remain in Pennsylvania, Everts added.
Rite-Hite, founded in 1965, manufacturers, sells and services loading dock equipment, industrial doors, safety barriers, HVLS fans and more. The company has more than 2,200 employees worldwide.
