Legendary Puerto Rican actress Rita Moreno, one of only 12 performers to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, will speak at the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee Gala on May 14.
Moreno, 84, has starred in dozens of films, including classics such as Singing in the Rain and West Side Story. Both films are included in the American Film Institute‘s list of the greatest American films ever made. She has also appeared in dozens of television shows throughout her 66-year career.
She is the first Hispanic performer to have won all four major American entertainment awards and took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Anita in the 1961 film adaptation of West Side Story.
“Rita’s talent and achievements are inspirational,” said HPGM President & CEO Griselda Aldrete. “We welcome the opportunity to hear her story and offer HPGM members, from students to long-standing professionals, the chance to hear, firsthand, how her talent, hard work, and faith in herself propelled her success.”
