REV Group chief executive officer Tim Sullivan, the former CEO of South Milwaukee-based Bucyrus International Inc. who is leading the effort to relocate REV Group to Milwaukee, chose a space in the 28-story Milwaukee Center, 111 E. Kilbourn Ave., after looking at several office towers in downtown Milwaukee, including the newly-completed 833 East Michigan building and the newly-renovated 411 East Wisconsin building.

The REV Group will occupy about 5,000 square feet on the 26th floor of the Milwaukee Center, said the firm’s broker, Steve Pape with Greywolf Partners Inc.

About 20 to 25 REV Group employees will be located in the Milwaukee Center office as soon as renovations to the space are complete, which will likely be early in the second quarter, Pape said.

REV Group, formerly known as Allied Specialty Vehicles, manufactures specialty vehicles such as ambulances and shuttles at 15 locations, many of which are in the Midwest. The company has more than 5,000 employees. Sullivan has served as CEO since 2014.

Milwaukee beat out Chicago in attracting the headquarters of the $2 billion company, which Sullivan said last month was because of Wisconsin’s strong manufacturing sector.

Sullivan was unable to convince the 18 employees in REV Group’s Orlando corporate headquarters to move to chilly Milwaukee, so he will hire a whole new 18-person executive team in the next few weeks as he works rapidly to move the company’s operations. None of the company’s work will remain in Florida.

In addition to the downtown Milwaukee headquarters, REV Group will also have a 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot operational office location immediately outside of downtown, Sullivan said last month. That location could potentially include manufacturing operations in the future, he said.

Pape would not comment on that location.
