Brookfield Suites Hotel & Convention Center is planning a multi-million dollar renovation and will return to its former brand flag of Embassy Suites by Hilton.

Management of the hotel at 1200 S Moorland Road, will announce detailed plans for the property Tuesday. Spokespeople for the 203-room hotel would not say when Brookfield Suites was converted to an independent brand or the circumstances surrounding the change.

The announcement comes one day after a California-based hotel operator, Dhillon Companies purchased the nearby Midway Motor Lodge, 1025 S. Moorland Road for $5.6 million.

Dhillon operates several hotels, including Best Western properties, which Midway Motor Lodge used to be before losing its flag.

The Moorland Road-Interstate 94 corridor’s third hotel, the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel has also been renovating its guest rooms and plans on renovating its restaurant and bar this year, said Timothy Casey, economic development administrator with the city of Brookfield.

“Our friends at the Crowne Plaza in Wauwatosa saying our hotels are in trouble were premature,” Casey said. “We have been hearing a lot of good news and seeing a lot of freshening up.”
