Real estate profile: Adam Matson

Broker associate, MLG Commercial

Company: MLG Commercial
Title: Broker associate
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance with an emphasis on real estate
Family:  "I think I’m the sole bachelor at my company!"
City of Residence: Elkhorn
Hobbies and Interests: Member of the U.S. Coast Guard; hunting, fishing, mountain biking and canoeing.
What are you working on?  "A snapshot of my projects are a beautifully maintained, 27,000-square-foot flex building in Menomonee Falls, a high-end biotech/food processing facility in Oconomowoc, a great little shop at 5708 Lincoln in West Allis, and a three-building office and industrial complex (Falls Commerce Center) in Menomonee Falls."
How does the market look to you? "The first quarter of 2007, many local companies were in a holding pattern, just on the verge of taking on new business opportunities and risk. The start of this quarter, these companies have become more comfortable with the market and economy and are beginning to look into the future and their growth plans. We are seeing a lot of activity in companies looking to buy their first buildings, and companies starting to expand into leased space of 5,000 square feet to 15,000 square feet. The larger buildings and sites in the market are starting to have a lot of inquires, but these companies still seem slightly hesitant to take that next step forward. We look forward to a strong third quarter with these groups."
What was the best deal you’ve ever been involved in? "United States Fire Protection’s purchase in New Berlin of a four-building, 4.42-acre corporate headquarters. They were a great company to work with and we have been extremely fortunate to be able to continue our relationship with them, handling additional space on two of their properties."
What was the funniest moment of your career? "This is a brokerage! I wouldn’t know where to end, so I’m afraid that I can’t start!"
