Fiserv CFO buys condo at The Moderne

Robert Hau, chief financial officer of Fiserv, Inc., purchased a condominium on the 29th floor of The Moderne in downtown Milwaukee for $960,000, according to state real estate records. Hau’s condo is one of three on the 29th floor of the 30-story building at 1141 N. Old World Third St. Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele owns the other two. Last year, Abele purchased a second condo there to expand his living space.

Joseph Property Development is moving forward with an adaptive reuse project on the second and third floors of the Milworks building in the Third Ward.

The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design sold the former student union and surface parking lot at 143 N. Broadway, to General Capital Group and Joseph Property Development in 2014. The original plan was to demolish the two buildings and construct a new apartment building.

Once those plans fell through, Robert Joseph founder of Joseph Property Development said he decided to focus on adaptive reuse.

The Milworks Men’s Goods store opened earlier this year, and Joseph is renovating the upper floors into two apartments. Each will be 1,600-square-foot, two bedroom units.

“It’s not a big glamorous project, but it’s unusual for two full floor units in the Third Ward,” Joseph said.
