Construction of the Sendik’s store that will anchor the Fountains of Franklin development in Franklin will begin soon. A groundbreaking ceremony for the project will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 15. The grocery store will anchor the 500,000-square-foot development on 60 acres at 51st Street and Rawson Avenue. The Fountains of Franklin developers are Equitable Development LLC and Devo Properties LLC. Another Sendik’s store is planned in Franklin for the Shoppes at Wyndham Village project being planned by Mark Carstensen Construction and Development Companies Inc. at the southeast corner of Highway 100 and West Drexel Avenue.
Marshall & Ilsley Bank, on Monday, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction for "M&I University," a 55,000-square-foot training and development center for M&I Bank employees. The facility is will be built at 401 N. Executive Dr. in Brookfield.
Muskego-based Callen Construction Inc. announced that it has received the GAF Master Elite Training Excellence Award from GAF Materials Corporation, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer. The industry award recognizes Callen Construction’s dedication to continuous education and training by attending the Center for Advancement of Roofing Excellence (CARE) in an effort to help consumers better understand their roofing options and make an educated roofing decision.
Trillium Development LLC recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sanctuary of Delafield condominium project. The Sanctuary of Delafield will consist of 20 custom, single-family condominiums that will look more like a high-end single family subdivision than a condominium development. The development will be built on more than 14 acres of land. The development will include nine acres of open space with walking trails, ponds and a stream. Kings Way Homes will build the single-family condominium homes. Prices will start between $689,000 and $729,000, depending on the lower level exposure. Shorewest Realtors is handling the condominiums sales.
The American Subcontractors Association of Wisconsin Inc. recently recognized two companies and two individuals with the Architect of the Year, General Contractor of the Year, Superintendent of the Year and Project Manager of the Year awards. Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects received the Architect of the Year award for the eighth time. Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services Inc. received the General Contractor of the Year award for the second time. Brian Mable, of the Brookfield office of Minneapolis-based M.A. Mortenson Co. received the Superintendent of the Year award for the first time. Andie Rodenkirch, of Brookfield-based Hunzinger Construction Co. received the Project Manager of the Year award for the first time.
Milwaukee Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), announced that the following eight companies have been accepted for membership: Milwaukee-based All City Contracting LLC, Germantown-based Connor Remodeling & Design Inc., Pewaukee-based Droegkamp Furnace Company, Wauwatosa-based Lange MCR Enterprises LLC, Burlington-based Melka’s Roofing LLC, Oconomowoc-based Miller Building & Remodeling, Butler-based Signature Etching LLC and Mukwonago-based Waukesha Plumbing LLC.
The Lodge Bar and Restaurant, located 134 E. Juneau Ave. in the Water Street bar district in downtown Milwaukee, recently expanded its patio area by about 350 square feet, removing a section of its covered deck area. Al Hildebrand, owner of The Lodge, said customers prefer sitting at tables in the bar’s open patio. A portion of the covered deck remains, and houses an outside bar where customers can order drinks. The Lodge has also changed its menu for summer, to kick off the patio’s renovation, Hildebrand said. He’s also hired a new, full-time manager to handle day to day operations of the bar. "I need to spend more time doing owner stuff," Hildebrand said. This fall, The Lodge is planning to open for lunch, he said.
Oconomowoc-based Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments LLC recently brokered the sale of two hotels in Abbotsford, Wis. The 60-room Sleep Inn and the 24-room Abby Inn was sold by Abby Inn LLC to Ralph and Helen Hlavin of Lamont, Ill. Milmark specializes in the sale and evaluation of hotel and motel properties.
