Reader poll questions provide snapshots on policies

Every week or so, we ask readers of BizTimes.com to respond to a survey question.

For this week’s blog, I’ve assembled those poll questions from the past couple of months and I’m sharing the results.

I’ll do so without comment. You’ll need to inject your own editorial conclusions and observations. The surveys are not random and certainly are not scientific, because the respondents choose to participate. But they generally seem to illuminate which ways the winds are blowing.

Will your company have more revenues in 2011 than it did in 2010?
Yes 72%
No 28%

Do you think President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional?
Yes 35%
No 65%

Should government workers have the right to collectively bargain for their wages and benefits like those in the private sector do, if they so choose?
Yes 71%
No 29%

Who should be Milwaukee’s next county executive? (conducted Feb. 16)
Chris Abele 53%
Jeff Stone 47%

Are charter schools and publicly funded voucher schools good for Milwaukee?
Yes 57%
No 43%

Who would be a better justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court? (conducted on March 21)
Joanne Kloppenburg 39%
David Prosser 61%

What do you think about Wisconsin’s political image?
Its tradition of good, clean government is as pure as it ever was.  18%
Recent events have tarnished the state’s image. 82%

Whom or what is to blame for $4 per gallon gasoline?
OPEC 7%
Uncertainty in the Middle East 13%
Wall Street speculators 38%
U.S. energy policies 42%

In hindsight, that last question surely should have included a fifth option: Large oil companies. And it probably should have included a sixth option: All of the above.

There seems to be plenty of blame to go around for soaring gas prices.
