Quad prints Super Bowl programs

Sussex-based Quad/Graphics Inc.’s Lomira plant printed the programs for the Super Bowl in Dallas on Sunday, in which the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will square off.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Quad/Graphics has printed the Super Bowl program, Quad spokeswoman Claire Ho said. Prior to that the Super Bowl briefly used another printer and before that Quad printed the Super Bowl program for 12 consecutive years, she said.

“It’s extra special this year since the Packers are in the game and are part of the program,” Ho said.

Quad started printing parts of the program before the NFC and AFC championship games were over. Once those games were over, and the Super Bowl participants were known, production began for team specific content for the program, including the cover.

“We use multiple presses and multiple binders to get the product completed and sent immediately,” Ho said.

The first copies of the program were on their way to Dallas on the day after the NFC and AFC championship games. Just days later the programs were on shelves for sale in stores in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and other locations, Ho said.

Ho declined to disclose exactly how many programs Quad produced for the Super Bowl.

The attendance for the game is expected to be about 100,000.
