Milwaukee-based 7Summits and Marquette University’s Diederich College of Communication will provide a forum for discussion on critical PR and social media topics at the fifth annual PR & Social Media Summit, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9, on the grounds of Marquette’s campus.
The summit, geared toward senior executives, marketing and public relations professionals, brand managers and students, will touch on social media strategy, crisis communications, effective social media content and the power of LinkedIn. Presentations will include expert insight from area professionals who work for companies like MillerCoors, Prudential Financial and Yelp.
Representatives from 7Summits, which is serving as the event’s title sponsor, will also be included in the lineup of speakers in addition to executives from Groupon and Zebra, who will focus on social media measurement, business results influenced by social media and advantages of using social media internally.
The event will also provide professionals and students an “important networking opportunity” with a new networking component following the summit presentations, said Lori Bergen, dean of the Diederich College of Communication.
“We are really excited to be sponsors again for the PR & Social Media Summit,” Bergen said. “It’s important for us at Marquette and the Diederich College to be leaders in Milwaukee and the region. This event provides an excellent opportunity for professionals, and for our students, to stay on top of these fast-changing fields.”
Another new element will feature a series of pre-summit workshops on Tuesday, Oct. 8, that will provide a maximum of 20 participants per session an outlet to explore key PR and social media tools at greater lengths.
“This year, we’ve advanced the event even further by working with Marquette to ensure it includes even more relevant content and the opportunity to discuss future trends with innovators,” said Paul Stillmank, chief executive officer of 7Summits. “If you’re working in PR and social media, you can’t miss this event.”
Summit presentations will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the university’s Alumni Memorial Union and in the Weasler Auditorium, located at 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee, with networking taking place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission costs $139 for professionals, $35 for Marquette faculty and staff, and $25 for students.
