The assets and inventory Pleasant Prairie-based Unified Solutions, Inc. will be acquired by an Indiana-based firm, but the potential impact on 161 USI employees is unclear.
Kem Krest, LLC, a supply chain and fulfillment services provider, has entered into an agreement with USI, a packaging services provider. The deal is scheduled to close on June 30.
USI operates a 278,000-square-foot facility at 9801 80th Ave. in Pleasant Prairie and provides packaging services including shrink wrapping, automated bagging and multiple component kit assembly.
According to a notice sent to the state Department of Workforce Development, Kem Krest has expressed intent to carry on operations at the facilities.
The notice also indicates the 161 employees will no longer be employed by USI at the close of business on June 24, regardless of which employees are offered employment by Kem Krest.
Employees at USI were notified of the decision in an April 14 letter.
Representatives of Kem Krest and USI did not return calls seeking comment or additional details on the move.
