Pleasant Kafe Coffee Shop & Wine Bar has shuttered its after three and half years of operation on Milwaukee’s Lower East Side.
Amy Horn, office manager at Milwaukee-based GatoCity Properties confirmed the closure. The real estate firm purchased the 1600 N. Jackson St. property in 2013, renovated the space, and opened the cafe in 2014.
The two-story 1,950-square-foot building, which was built in 1900, formerly housed Dentice Bros. Italian Sausage, and had sat vacant for more than 10 years before it was purchased, according to Pleasant Kafe’s website.
GatoCity’s owners owned and operated the cafe. Co-owner Eric Seegers could not be immediately reached for comment.
The cafe served Milwaukee-based Valentine Coffee and Rishi Tea, local craft beer, and wine. Its menu offered sandwiches, charcuterie boards, salads and soups.
