The company started the 23,000-square-foot, $2.2 million expansion of the facility in May 2015. The project, which more than doubles the size of the plant, included $1.2 million in new capital with four new manufacturing cells and support equipment.

The Germantown-based company produces small and medium sized plastic injection molding parts with fully automated production and engineered support.

The Bunsen Drive facility has been fully automated since it opened in 2011 with three manufacturing cells. The facility had 10 cells by the end of 2015 and will have 14 by March 1. The expansion of the facility allows for a total of 40 manufacturing cells when filled to capacity.

Tom Duffey, Plastic Components president, said the decision to expand was the result of a strong start to 2015 and record projections.

“We challenged our manufacturing team to develop a facility design that would allow us to sustain this operating model well into the future; and they have done it,” Duffey said.
