Drexel Town Square has lost a major restaurant tenant, Pizza Man.
The Milwaukee-area pizzeria recently closed its Oak Creek location after four years, as a result of challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we all know how tough these past nine months have been, we had to pivot and make the difficult decision for the greater good of the brand,” said Rob Levin, vice president of operations at F Street Hospitality, a Milwaukee-based restaurant and entertainment group that owns Pizza Man, Glass + Griddle in downtown Milwaukee, and Timmer’s Resort in West Bend.
In an email to BizTimes Milwaukee, Levin said the business appreciates all the support from the Oak Creek community, both before and during the pandemic.
Pizza Man opened its Oak Creek location in 2016, taking over a 5,000-square-foot space on the south side of the mixed-use development, facing the library and Oak Creek City Hall.
Restaurants that remain at Drexel Town Square include Belair Cantina, The Chocolate Factory, Five Guys, Chick-fil-A and First Watch.
Founded in 1970 by the late Mike Amidzich, Pizza Man now has three locations, on Milwaukee’s East Side on North Downer Avenue; in Wauwatosa at the Mayfair Collection; and its recently opened space at the Mequon Public Market.Â
