Waukesha-based Pat’s Rib Place will expand into Milwaukee this summer, opening a new location at the Milwaukee Public Market.
It’ll be the second location for the popular Southern-style barbecue restaurant, which is known for its signature smoked meats. Last year, Pat’s gained a national following when its homemade sauces were featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things holiday gift list.
Pat’s BBQ sauces, which come in five flavors, will be sold by the jar at its new public market location. Other items on the menu will include pulled pork, smoked pastrami, corned beef and sides like cornbread, smoked baked beans and homemade potato salad.
“The Public Market is one of the venues that has helped put Milwaukee on the map,” said Alisha and Ty Hayes, owners of Pat’s Rib Place. “We are thrilled to showcase our cuisine and family history at such an iconic and well renowned Milwaukee attraction.”
The husband-and-wife-duo opened the restaurant at 151 E. Sunset Drive, Waukesha, in 2009, following the death of Alisha’s mom, Patricia “Lee” Lloyd, who inspired the concept and its name.
“In every way – from quality product to hospitable customer service – Pat’s reputation is among the best in the Milwaukee area,” said Paul Schwartz, executive director of the Milwaukee Public Market and Business Improvement District #2. “We are beyond excited to welcome Pat’s to the Market, the city of Milwaukee and Third Ward neighborhood, and look forward to expanding our food culture with their mouth-watering culinary offerings for our patrons.”
A grand opening date for Pat’s Milwaukee Public Market location has yet to be announced.
